![]() The meeting was called to order at 7:45 PM. Present were Dave, Al, Bob, Sam, Sue, Pam and Ulla. Absent were Rick and Janie. Also present were Jack Sperry, Mark Peters, Bob Rothschild, Mike Cline, Lynne Christie, Steve and Mary Anne Garvich and Robert Schueler. Minutes from September were approved. Dock Parties: Dave (Peters) reported that the second dock party had approximately 40 people in attendance. We were pleased with the results of both parties and plan to build the program next year; possibly with an evening party…music…dancing. Dock Numbering: Janie (Edelman) and Kevin (Esping) went by boat around the lake to verify numbers. Holiday Planning: Patty Cline will take care of the Thanksgiving family not to exceed $40 for each of the 3 families. Dave (Peters) will talk to Kevin (Esping) about using the police boat as the Santa boat. We discussed having two collection sites for gifts; the Davis house and Fish house. Allan Hermann will be Santa, and next month, elves will be asked to volunteer. Treasurer’s Report: Ulla (Kemman) reported she is still working on the tax-exempt status; she is waiting for some information from Anneliese regarding rental records. Park Planning Process:
Mike Cline reported that Sharon Claussen from the King County parks department
is very interested in input as to what should be done with the property.
She also pointed out that nothing firm had been scheduled for the property
yet. Bob (Edelman) asked what we wanted done with the land and suggested
we create a vision of what we would like done and not done. Allan
(Hermann) said that a priority would be that no new boat launch was undertaken;
and we could possibly negotiate on the number of ballfields. A discussion
of ballfields ensued and the realization that there are a lack of fields
in our area. The question was raised of fire/911 and police activity
for the fields and how that was to be funded. Mark Davis suggested
looking at traffic patterns from Centennial Park, a major park just completed
in Federal Way. Bob (Edelman) said if there were to be a beach, we would
prefer no personal water or boat traffic in the beach area. Jack
Sperry suggested that ballfields lit up at night will greatly change what
we see at the south end of the lake. One of the positive benefits
of this park is that if King County has significant means on the lake,
they will have a vested interested in improving the water quality.
Mike Cline announced that the City of Black Diamond will be seeking two new appointees after the first of the year. Old Business: Pam reported on the market value of the clubhouse. It’s commercial value would be between $205,000 and $225,000. She suggested we look into having the building rezoned from residential to commercial. The residential value is approximately $130,000. If we sold, major work would need to be done including roofing, plumbing etc. Mike Cline suggested that the newsletter be published on a more consistent and frequent time schedule. The meeting was adjourned around 10 PM.
