Lake Sawyer Community Club
Minutes November 10, 1999
-
The Park Committee meeting was
held at 7 PM with the general meeting following. Attending the Park
Committee meeting were Janie and Bob Edelman, Mark Davis, Sam Kerley, Dave
Peters, Mike Cline, Robert Schueler and Sue Fish. Kevin Esping joined
us later. Two main issues were discussed. The first issue was
where the Community Club needed to place committee members, based on the
numerous park committees that have either been formed or will be formed.
We determined that it was imperative that we have a voice on the "Citizens
Advisory Committee" that will be formed by the Parks Department.
The other main issue was how the passage of 695 will affect the park and
progress on the park. We discussed asking Sharon Claussen to attend
the January or February meetings, depending on progress made on the Park.
We decided it probably was not necessary at this point to hold additional
meetings until we know a little further what is planned and how we can
effect the planning process.
-
The general meeting was called
to order. Also attending were Ulla and Pam. Absent was Rick Stocks.
Rick called in his resignation from the board to Dave Peters. The
board elected Robert Schueler to serve out Rick’s term.
-
Minutes from October were read and approved.
-
The treasurer’s report was presented
and Ulla needs more information from Dave on the fees the Ballet School
is to be paying. Our cash reserve is slowly but surely being whittled
away and we are still not functioning on a break-even basis. We discussed
raising the rental fee for the clubhouse from $125 to a higher amount.
We are now asking for a $300 cleaning/damage deposit.. The clubhouse
is not free for members. Nothing was determined for raising the fees.
. The Clubhouse Manager position was discussed. Sam suggested
and then volunteered to prepare a report for the February meeting with
the different options for use/sale/gift or rental of the Community Club.
-
Al Hermann volunteered (willingly!) to
be the new Newsletter Editor.
-
Dave will check with Claudette on having
a meeting with the ballet school and community club to discuss space usage
in the Community Club. This meeting has been postponed several times.
-
Santa Boat: A work party to decorate
the boat will be held at 9 am on the 11th of December at the City Shops.
Janie will do gift certificates for the best decorated yards for
First and Second places. It is entirely possible that Santa’s belly
is floating around in a locker somewhere at the police department.
-
We discussed collecting food for the food
bank at the February meeting.
-
AdoptaRoad will be held Saturday,
the 13th at 9:30 am.
-
Old Business: Kevin Esping
reported that dock numbers have not yet been ordered due to a tight
budget. Kevin also gave a presentation on summer boating statistics
including boat infractions, warnings, complaints etc. He said the
next projects he wanted to work on included a log boom around the park;
dock numbering; and recording the serial numbers of the paddle boats around
the lake.
-
We received a report from Jason regarding
lake
quality and there is some improvement.
-
Janie gave a short presentation regarding
new
Lake Sawyer logo items. She presented a book to order from and
will look into further items, such as a new logo, ordering from samples
or a catalog instead of placing orders and selling from inventory.
She also suggested putting logo items on the web site.
-
The next meeting will be held December
9, Thursday, at Presti’s at 6 PM.
-
The meeting was adjourned around 9:45
PM.
