LSCC Minutes for Annual Meeting
February 2000

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 by David Peters.  Dave’s presentation included talking about LSCC core activities:  Santa boat, donation of dinners to needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas, 4th of July, and water quality issues.  The water quality committee doubled to two with the addition of Mark Davis.  He also talked about the website and thanked Doug Geiger, Kevin Myette and Terry Fahey for their work.    Sue Fish was thanked for her work in organizing and distributing the welcome packets.  He said that we want to maintain the social atmosphere of the community club.  Last year two dock side parties were held.  Every one had a great time and they were very successful.  He said that we need more on-going participation, not just for the two year term of office when on the board.  Sign up sheets for activities were available.

The issue of the future of the clubhouse was raised.  It was stated that  it was running at a loss, but with renegotiating the leases with the ballet schools, it now is about even.  There is no contingency fund for any emergency repairs.  Pam McCain was introduced as the new clubhouse manager.

Nothing has changed regarding the new regional park.  The county is still waiting to award a contract to a consultant.  We have been assured that we will have active participation in the park planning.

The election of officers for 2000 was held.  The officers are:  President:  David Peters, Vice President:  Al Hermann, Treasurer:  Ulla Kemmon, Secretary:  Sue Fish.  The Trustees voted in are:  position 1:   Don Erickson, position 2:  Janie Edelman,  position 3:  Sam Kerley; position 4:  Robert Schueler, and position 5:  Annette Giancomo.

Jason Paulson, Black Diamond City Manager, gave a presentation about the possible development project on Black Diamond-Auburn Road.  He said it is not solidified yet, but may be 2,000 homes, a business park, and some retail.  The City Council is working on a master development plan ordinance.  Traffic is a big issue as well as salmon, and water supply.  Currently Black Diamond can’t serve this size of development.  There is currently a moratorium in place until the ordinance is passed.

The Maple Ridge Highlands development project that is scheduled for south and east of Safeway at Four Corners will be a 575 house development.  There is a draft environmental impact assessment.

The lake restoration committee has not yet received the completed lake management plan from the county.  The draft was available in 1997.  Black Diamond is spending $7,000 in water quality testing.  There was some discussion of forming a Lake Management District.  Glen Ross will take over the water quality testing duties from John Davies.

Al Hermann made a presentation about the history of the Lake Sawyer Community Club , the cost of maintenance and near term expenditures, i.e., re-roofing and other maintenance.

The meeting was adjourned around 9:15 p.m.

    Respectfully submitted,

    Janie Edelman
