LSCC Board Meeting

April 13, 2004

Attendees: Cindy Wheeler, Carol Benson, Alf Ladderud, Robert Schueler, Becky Olness, Michelle Young, Sharon Veldhuis, Jean Boston

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. at the home of Jean Boston.

Floor Damage

Floor damage that occurred from one of our rentals was reported by Claudette to Cindy.  It was not discovered until the Monday following the rental for a Friday evening event.  It was determined that we should have an insurance adjuster come out to give a bid for repair for the water damage and to replace the boards with holes that go clear through the wood.

Action Items:

  1. Carol will call the adjuster.
  2. Michelle will call the renter to make them aware that we expect payment for damages.

In the future, there will be a 30-day delay before security deposits are returned to renters.  We will have our contract updated to reflect this.  Carol will deposit the damage deposits instead of simply holding them which is what is currently done.

Solicitation Mailing

The mailing that Becky did for funds solicitation resulted in several being returned.  For those who have not paid, we will begin to use "Resident" in an effort to get them delivered, as there have been changes in ownership and tenancy.  We will make personal visits to our non-paying lake residents.

Action Items:

  1. Becky will get the mailing list from Bart.
  2. The list will be sorted by address for ease in assigning board member responsibility.
  3. Steve will get with Janie to see how we sorted our list last year.

Egg Hunt Review

The Egg Hunt was a great success. Carol has been given the financial info for the hunt.  We were able to recoup 1/3 of the plastic eggs.  BD Newsletter should include a thank you for all who donated.

Notes for next years Egg Hunt:

A. We will need to solicit more donations.

B. It took 18 man-hours to stuff eggs.

C. Perhaps next year we can solicit food donations for BD Food Bank.

D. Start time for setup next year should be 8:30.

E.      Board must solicit funds from Rotary for 2005 hunt.

F.      We need to set up bin for plastic eggs donated back to us.

Action Items:

  1. Carol to give a financial summary of Egg Hunt at next meeting.
  2. Cindy to take advantage of after Easter sales for next year's prizes.

Road Cleanup:

All is set for April 24th at 8 a.m.  The county has given us 20 King County Earth Day T-shirts for those who participate.

Action Items:

1.      Jean to call Kentlake H.S. for volunteers.

2.      Becky to call her contact for person who needs to complete community service hours.

3.      Board members to bring tools for LSCC yard cleanup

4.      Jean to pick up cleanup kits.

5.      Ron Olness to take pictures of event.

July 4th:

We need a theme.  "Heroes" was suggested.

Action Items:

  1. Cindy to find a new Uncle Sam hat.
  2. Candy bagging party to be held at Becky's house.
  3. Sharon to pursue having a mini triathlon.
  4. Cindy to provide the 10' X 10' canopy for Robert for run/walk/bike event.

Website:

Michelle is now going to partner with Doug to maintain our LSCC website.  She will send a link so we may see what she is doing.

Tent City:

Our Lake Sawyer county park is being viewed as a possible tent city location.  Cindy has made Jayson aware.  Tent City is sponsored by SHARE & WHEEL.  Jayson says they will not be able to get needed permits (park is within city limits).

Garage Sale:

Would we like to have a neighborhood garage sale?

 Action Items:

  1. Cindy to call to find out when Greenbrier will have theirs.
  2. Michelle to coordinate timing with Greenbrier sale.

Dock Parties:

August - Carol & Robert to host

July - Becky & Ron to host

Cindy would like to pursue having a water quality meeting incorporated into a dock party.

Meeting Attendance:

The importance of board member attendance at our meetings was discussed.  It was felt by the board members present that with our increased activities, our time demands have increased.  Future candidates for the board should be made aware of this.

Community Service:

Becky suggested we have a drive for school supplies in conjunction with BD Community Center.

Action Item:

  1. Becky will touch base with Judith Black at the center.

Jean suggested we could also have a drive for items for Vine Maple, our local home for battered women and children.

  1. Jean will touch base with Vine Maple to see if they would be interested in our involvement.

Meeting adjourned.
