2/2/07:
Marine Patrol Update
Here are some up-dates from the Kevin Esping of the Black Diamond Police Dept for the Lake Sawyer Marine Patrol:
Kim Kingsbury who lives in the boat launch neighborhood helped me weld the new pedestal for the pay parking machine. I will be installing the machine so it can be wired up next week by Wilderness Electric. The final stage is to have the vendor come out and install the software and other internal hardware. It should be up and running within the next week or so. You will be able to use cash, debit or credit cards to buy your daily pass which will go on the dash of your vehicle. Yearly and Senior Citizen passes will still be available at City Hall. They are $60.00 or $35.00 for seniors.
I am currently working on the year end marine patrol report for the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission who oversees the statewide boating program. I will make those statistics available when that is completed.
The boat is in the water and available for emergencies although occasionally the ice had it trapped at the Sunrise Resort.
Current certified marine officers are:
- Kevin Esping: Boating Program Coordinator, Marine Certified, Boating Safety Instructor
- Jamey Kiblinger: Marine Certified
- Robert Stephens: Marine Certified
- Kris Chatterson: Marine Certified
We plan on sending one more officer to the week long class in Kennewick which is in April.
Seadoo is winterized and in the warehouse.
3-9-06 Metro Transit
At the LSCC February Annual Meeting, Jason Paulsen of the city of Black Diamond reported that King County's Metro Transit is proposing the elimination of Bus Route 912 (see http://transit.metrokc.gov/tops/bus/schedules/s912_0_.html for route info). This would mean there will be no daytime bus service in Black Diamond serving and connecting Black Diamond to the surrounding community and other transfer locations.
It is important for those interested in this decision to either write, call, or email our King County Council Representative, Reagan Dunn, regarding this matter. Reagan Dunn also serves as the chair of Regional Transit Committee.
Below is a link to a sample letter with appropriate information you can use as a guide for sending your preferences to Councilman Dunn. Modify or edit the letter as you feel appropriate, and send to:
