Annual Meeting
February 10th 7PM
The LSCC annual meeting at the clubhouse this
year promises to be shorter, more lake oriented, and more
informative. There is a motion to have the club donate $5000 to
the Villages and Lawson Hills appellants efforts through a
501(c)3 group called the Diamond Coalition. There are pros and
cons to be considered regarding this motion and your input is
important. Remember that you must be a current 2010 member to
vote.
No matter if you are for or against the two Master Planned Development, you should be concerned that our
lake is properly protected from the adverse effects of development. The two proposed developments are the biggest in King County,
larger than Issaquah Highlands, Redmond Ridge, and Snoqualmie Ridge. Couple those with the Morgan Kame Mine Expansion and the need for
enforceable mitigation becomes very apparent.
That said, the meeting will not include the usual guest speakers from the city. No disrespect intended, just the
fact that this year our agenda is important and the time goes very fast. Last years meeting extended past 9:15pm with some folks leaving
before the elections.
Dues must be paid to be a voting member.
Black Diamond Trail Survey Ready
The City has a trails survey up on their website
www.ci.blackdiamond.wa.us. It’s on
the main page under
Notices. The maps and survey are a culmination of several months work in which City staff and our consultant have talked
and brainstormed with the community on what they like to see in the way of trails in Black Diamond. The survey does not
take too long to complete and the information will be useful as we begin to plan for trails in Black Diamond.
Thanks, Aaron Nix,
Parks/Natural Resources Director

Jan. 01, 2010, Noon, Boat Launch!
Polar Bear Plunge

This raft ended up tied to the bulkhead at the southeast end of the lake near where Ravensdale Creek
comes in after a journey from somewhere over to the Gangl's where it became wedged under their dock. Alan, towed it to safety and tied it up
hoping someone will claim it. If you find a boat, or a canoe, or a raft, or if you've lost one, simply
email the president and
he will
post the information on the Classified Page of our website. Doug Geiger was reunited with his canoe last week, there was an aluminum
boat found on the outlet dam, and Jason Brealy has someone's paddleboat that blew in on the last big wind.

Election of Officers
The Annual Election of Officers on February 10th will be important since there are
significant vacancies.
With Becky Olness's successful election to Mayor of Black Diamond, the LSCC has lost a very
competent secretary who's newsletters over the last two years have been very well done. Actually, all the spots are open
except the Trustee positions currently held by Kurt Eby and Mark Davidson (Positions # 1 and 3).
The current President and Vice President have served two years, and the Treasurer has indicated he
would like to travel and dance more. There was some interest in the open positions generated at the Wine Tasting Event
Sunday and those of you who have indicated being open to the idea of becoming involved, make sure to attend the Annual
Meeting Feb. 10th. (7pm).
Wine Tasting a Success!
Sunday January 31st Dave Guest of Illusion Wines presented his wines at the LSCC
"Un-Dock Party". Hard to say exactly how many people attended during the three hour event, but educated guesses place
the number at between 45-55. Cheeses, crackers, salami, dark chocolate, and grapes were consumed by a very talkative
crowd. Newly elected Mayor Olness and new Councilman Goodwin were there and the conversations ranged from lost paddle boats
to national politics, and everywhere in between.
It was also a chance for people to see the new look of the clubhouse. The men's and women's bathrooms
re-done, new fire code compliant doors, new lighting and dimmers, fresh paint, the place was looking good.
Judging by what was opened, the 2005 Columbia Valley Cab. Sauv. and the 2005 Windy Ridge Syrah were the
clear winners. The 2004 Apparition, a fine red, and three Yakima Valley whites, a
Riesling, a Pinot Gris, and a Chardonnay,
rounded out the selections. Ted at Lake Sawyer Grocery stocks all the Illusion Wines and
www.illusionwine.com is Dave's website.
The response was so good that LSCC will probably be having another similar event, another "UN-dock party". Thanks to all
who came.
