2008 East vs. West Volleyball Match

This year we had a TEN teams, a record turnout! The tournament was single elimination, non-rally scoring to 15. First Place, for a repeat win and holders of the perpetual trophy for another year was awarded to the WEST - LOVERS team anchored by Weston and Trenton Butt, including the same members as last year; Adam Running, Jacob Meader, Jordan and Kelsey. Second, and still holding their own, AARP (2) (squared), this year anchored by Doug Geiger the fierce server and Steve Garvich. AARP(2) team members are l-r front: Doug Geiger, Steve Garvich, back Randy Martin, Jeff Potter, Bob Lonneman. The EAST was well represented by the "Clinic", with the Poe girls who finished in 3rd.  Special guest appearance on team Thesenvitz, headed by Greg and Sarah Thesenvitz, included friend and UW volleyball alumnus, national champ and 2007 USA Women’s National Volleyball Team member Courtney Thompson A newly formed team of now young adults (freshly 18) we'll be hearing more from was headed by residents Kurt Geiger and Meagan Ganzer, with friends Aaron Roessler, Bryon Martin and Bryce Mudroch. Meagan will be playing volleyball at WSU this coming year. Unfortunately their single elimination came at the hands of the day's winners, shortening their debut. Many fans came by to watch and cheer, and the weather held for a great day of Volleyball Fun! Truly a 'blast' on July 4th. Thanks, Kris & Wes.

XTERRA Black Diamond Triathlon  Aug. 3rd  9AM

The national off-road triathlon known as XTERRA is coming to Lake Sawyer on Sunday Aug 3rd at 9am. Spectacular 4th Picture by Ron Olness

All in all, the 4th of July events were well attended and well carried out by the LSCC and a host of volunteers. Some would say the Volleyball Match or the Fun Run, Walk, Ride was the best. Certainly the Grand Finale Fireworks was spectacular. The Water Ski/Wakeboard event morning was cool and damp but hey, if you're in the water...... Those that attended the Paddle Boat/Canoe/Kayak contest had a blast and would say surely, that was the most fun! What a great day of dock parties, yard parties, boat parties, BBQ's, beverages, and fireworks. And, there are certainly ways to make next years celebration even better. Several positive and welcomed suggestions will be implemented for next years events and max effort will be made to insure there is an "Uncle Sam" leading the boat parade.

Ron Olness took some great pictures during the day and you can view them by clicking here. Also, your comments or suggestions are always welcome. Just email the LSCC president.
